Foundation Course examination is the entry level for Chartered Accountancy Course. It is conducted in an offline mode by The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI). Foundation Examinations are held twice a year in the months of May and November.

Eligibility:

• Candidates must have passed Class 12^th/ equivalent qualifying examination from a recognised board for appearing in CA Foundation Exam.
• Candidates must have registered with ICAI on or before June 30, 2018; OR must have converted to CA Foundation course (for already registered students) on or before August 1, 2018,

Candidates who have completed Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Commerce with at least 55% marks OR holding Bachelor’s or master’s degree in a stream other than Commerce with at least 60% marks in aggregate are exempted from appearing in CA Foundation 2018.

Pattern of examination and Syllabus:

 The examination will be conducted in English and Hindi (English compulsory for Section B of Paper 2).

• Foundation Course comprises of four papers, out of which two are subjective and two are objective type: Paper-1: Principles and Practice of Accounting (100 Marks)

Paper-2: Business Law (60 marks) & Business Correspondence and Reporting (40 Marks)

Paper-3: Business Mathematics and Logical Reasoning (60 marks) & Statistics (40 Marks)

Paper-4: Business Economics (60 marks) & Business and Commercial Knowledge (40 Marks)

Paper-3 and Paper-4 are objective type papers with negative marking.
